TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
The tournament structure is the same for the Provincial Championship on 10 February and the Inter-Provincial Championship on 24 February 2024. The structure below is an example of how a single province pool round is structured. All provinces’ Provincial Championship will run in the same way. The top EIGHT teams from each province will then progress to the Inter-Provincial Championship which is a National competition and will be run using the same structure as shown below.
PROCESS IN GENERAL
- The first 32 schools per province are registered through the website
- Team rankings are based on player ratings, which is automatically calculated by the system. If a player is not rated, they are allocated novice status.
- Teams are allocated to pools automatically by the registration system, but based on an even-strength basis as far as possible.
- Once all registrations have been processed, the pools will be revealed.
- Schools will receive an automated e-mail confirmation of their registration and a reminder to register the 11 players by 25 January 2024 (10 players will compete, the additional player registered is a reserve player)
TEAM WITHDRAWALS
- Voluntary withdrawal – Teams may choose to withdraw at any time for any reason.
- Missed player registration – Teams who do not complete their player registrations by 25 January 2024 are automatically withdrawn
- Incomplete player registration – Teams who do not provide all the required details for all players by 25 January 2024 are automatically withdrawn.
- Insufficient players – Teams who cannot field 10 players cannot compete
- Any team dropping out of the tournament, or who are removed for not completing their registration or player registrations in full, will be replaced by a team on the standby list.
STANDBY LIST
- Once capacity has been reached per province, 15 standby places are reserved. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The standby list is numbered in order of registration.
- Any team withdrawn from the registered places are replaced by a standby team, in the order in which their registration was received.
